Houghton Lake 8/8/2020
Presented by The Outdoorsmen
With the record high water levels in the area since last year, we busted out of routine and took on beautiful Houghton Lake today, in an event that, like the rest of the season, was pushed back thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, Northern Michigan is beautiful any time of the year and many enjoyed a bit of a getaway. While most of the day was picture-perfect, a sunny day later led to ominous skies as weigh-in approached and after on and off sprinkles, we got hit by the rain just in time to get prizes handed out.
The day's top prize went to Cory Sterkenburg and (sub) Chad Sterkenburg, with their 13.70 lb. sack. Just behind them in 2nd place were Brian Burmania and Don Watts with 13.32 lbs. (which included one fish that self-proclaimed "Net Man" Brian even caught himself!). The top 3 was rounded out by Kyle Kempkers and (sub) Ben Nielsen, who weighed in at 11.98 lbs.
Big Bass for the day went to Mark Meyers for his 4.18 lb. beauty. Colton Overway took home a prize for his 2nd place Big Bass for his 4.07 lb. catch.
With the rain and distance from the parking lot to weigh-in site, many of you weren't unavailable to get your prizes, so we'll have them for you at the next event on Elk/Torch/Skegemog next month! See everyone there on 9/12/20!
