Well, folks, the 2018 Shoreline season is officially over! This year's Classic tournament presented by The Outdoorsmen was a tough fight for many. Learning unfamiliar water, battling the unusual high heat that hit northern Michigan over the weekend, and some of the bags of fish that were brought in made for a memorable few days dominated by smallmouth.
The top finishers for Day One were Don Watts and Brian Burmania with their impressive 22.93 lbs. Big bass for the day was a 5.48 lb. smallie, also brought in by Watts and Burmania. Day Two's top weight was 21.82 lbs., weighed in by Tim Eaton and Wes Woodard. Watts again smashed the competition for big bass, this time with an astounding 6.49 lb. beast. (Three other boats weighed fish weighing at least 5 lbs. as well!) After combining both days' weights, it was Scott Hannahs and Mark Vilneff who won the event, with their 2-day total of 37.82 lbs., taking home a $1,000 prize. Coming in 2nd place were Matt Kaiser and Nick Compagner, with 35.31 lbs. Just beind them with an overall 3rd place finish with 35.04 lbs. were Watts and Burmania. |
Many thanks to Tracker Marine and D&R Sports for sponsoring the cookout we enjoyed Saturday night! Everyone enjoyed the food provided and had a great time!
