Dylan Compagner Memorial Tournament
Muskegon Lake 8/2/2020

It was a fantastic day for everyone to get together under the big pavilion at Fisherman's Landing and celebrate the life of our friend and loved one, Dylan Compagner, at the 4th Annual Memorial Tournament held in Dylan's name. Early on, many eyes were on the radar as we wondered if any storms would brew up like last year, but after some light rain while boats peeled out of the channel, things quickly dried up for the rest of the day.
Anyone who has been on Muskegon Lake this years knows how tough it has been, but the bite turned on for some today. Winning the event were tournament director Matt Kaiser and his father, Tom Kaiser, with a bag of all smallmouth weighing in at 20.49 lbs., which included Matt's Big Bass of 5.07 lbs. No strangers to the winner's circle, Mark Vilneff and Scott Hannahs too 2nd place with 16.87 lbs. 3rd place went to Norm Greene and Harv Vandeweg, who were just behind Hannahs and Vilneff with 16.70 lbs. 2nd place Big Bass went to Ben Nielsen for his 4.68 lb. catch. Randy Bleeker also weighed in a 4.68 lb. hog, and after a tie-breaker of total weight, won a price for his 3rd place Big Bass. Special thanks goes out to Bethel Christian Reformed Church, who put on a delicious cook-out for everyone to enjoy during weigh-in!! (And the ice cream was a very nice treat!) Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Outdoor Discovery Center of Holland and the Compagner family! Over $3,300 was raised thanks to your generosity! THANK YOU! |
