Well. How to sum up probably the lowest overall weights on this water that most of us can recall during their fishing careers....it was a rough one out there, to say the least. After waiting half a year to get back out there and compete, Mother Nature dealt us a one-hour delay while we waited for a line of storms to push through. As the day went on, the winds stayed steady and the waves rolled. That, combined with the tough bite, which some say is 2-3 weeks behind average, the day proved to be one that many were pleased was cut short by that hour.
In the end, it was newcomers JJ Sauve and Justin Willis who took the top prize with 11.98 lbs. Not far behind were Ryan Vandeburg and Ken Reagan, who weighed in 11.37 lbs. The third and final boat to break the 11-pound mark, Gary Bierling and Mark Byker, rounded out the top 3 with 11.24 lbs.
The top prize for Big Bass went to Don Watts for his 3.78 lb. largemouth. The prize for 2nd place Big Bass went to JJ Sauve, who weighed in a 3.41 lb. smallmouth.
Major thanks to Legend Signs of Grand Rapids for presenting today's contest - hopefully the wind will cooperate and we can display your banners at the next one!!
